General Scanning Questions
How do you capture the item/artwork?
DreamSakes utilizes the latest in scanning technology to capture your images. Our scanners, developed by Scan-Optics LLC, our parent company, are the same scanners used by corporations and government departments when quality of scanning is critical. DreamSakes has enhanced the colorization of all of our scanners so that the digitization process is optimized for artwork. In addition, we process all your images onsite in our offices – none of our work is outsourced.
Can the image be dimensional? Can I capture my child’s art projects that have layers or multiple elements?
Yes, there may be some exceptions, but generally we are able to successfully scan dimensional pieces. If we encounter issues with a particular piece, we will contact you to discuss various options.
Are there any size restrictions to the items you can capture?
We are able to scan items with a maximum size of 12x22x2 inches.
Are there any general parameters or restrictions to what I can send?
We encourage you to submit all your artwork, school papers, report cards or anything you’d like to digitally capture. If we have an issue scanning something, a DreamSakes representative will contact you immediately. Please also remember that if your child’s school is running the DreamSakes program, your membership is through the school, and all keepsakes that you would like to have scanned must be sent in through the school. Where will my digitized images be stored? How will I be notified?
Once your items have been scanned, you will receive an email notifying you that the images are ready for viewing. You will have a secure account with a username and password where your images can first be previewed before you decide to purchase your digital library. No one else has access to your images.
How long does it take DreamSakes to digitize my keepsakes?
The scanned artwork will be available approximately 48 hours after received at DreamSakes. Artwork received from schools will generally be returned to the classroom within 7 business days, depending on where the school is located.
In what format do you save my images? Can I download them to my personal computer?
All images will be saved as JPEG files. Upon logging into your personal account (once it has been activated), you can download the art to your computer, send them to grandma and grandpa or just leave them stored on our servers for future use. There is no time limit for you to view and purchase your digitized library of keepsakes.

What if I want to put my image on a gift item not listed in your Products section? Will you take suggestions for other gift items?
Simply contact us and we’ll try to find a solution for you. Currently, the images on the site are primarily what we offer, but we are always looking to expand our selection.
Pricing and Membership Options
What are the two types of pricing plans you offer?
Our first pricing option is membership through schools. When a school participates in the program, parents will have the opportunity to subscribe to the monthly DreamSakes service where a school coordinator (usually an art teacher) will gather their student’s artwork/items for scanning and submit it to DreamSakes to be digitally archived. The cost to parents of a 12 month subscription for one child is $9.95 per month with a 12 month minimum subscription or, if paid up front, $99.95, a savings of 16%. Our other option is our On Demand service. Anyone can send us as many keepsakes as they like and as often as they want. On Demand customers will be charged on a per piece basis plus shipping charges. For more information on the On Demand service, please

How long does my membership/subscription last?
All memberships/subscriptions through school programs last for 12 months with the option to renew at the end of the 12th month.
Is there a maximum number of items that I can send to DreamSakes as part of my membership?
No - your membership through a school allows for an unlimited number of scans.
Is a membership through a school for each child or an entire family? If I have three children, do I have one membership or three?
Each membership is for one child. If you have more than one child in your family and are enrolled in the program, you will receive a discount for each additional child enrolled. Each child enrolled has their own digital library so parents can organize each child’s respective artwork.
Do we have to purchase a minimum amount of merchandise?
No - the purchase of merchandise is solely up to your discretion.
How are transactions handled on your site?
For our On Demand program, once DreamSakes notifies you that your keepsakes have been scanned, you will have a secure account with a username and password where only your images can be previewed before you decide to purchase. All transactions are placed under PCI compliance norms and completely secure with all data exchange happening under an encrypted SSL channel certified by VeriSign. You will then receive a transaction confirmation email from DreamSakes. Account and Privacy Questions
My contact information has changed. How do I update my account?
You can update your contact information by first logging into your DreamSakes account, and then clicking on the Membership tab and following the instructions. If you have questions, contact us at 1-800-232-3736 or via email at

Does DreamSakes share any of my information or my child’s artwork with anyone?
DreamSakes will never share your account information with anyone. We also ensure that your child’s artwork, school information and other information is not shared with anyone.
Shipping Options
Is shipping to DreamSakes included as part of my membership or do I pay separately to ship my keepsakes to you?
If you are a member through a school, the shipping costs will be included in your monthly fee. If you are sending us artwork through the On Demand program, the cost of shipping is the responsibility of the customer.
How long will it take me to receive my merchandise/other products?
Typically, orders will be delivered within 7 business days. Expedited service is available upon request.
How do I ship irregular sized items to DreamSakes?
DreamSakes supplies school programs with bags for each student - anything that does not fit in the bag is too big to be scanned. Again, when shipping items on your own, please remember that we are able to scan items with a maximum size of 12x22x2 inches.
What happens if I am not satisfied with the scanned results in my digital library?

What happens if I am not satisfied with a special product I ordered?
